Art and Culture
As part of its ongoing support for Arts & Culture activities in the region, Genting Hong Kong partnered with the Taiwan Tourism Bureau to present Taiwanese superstar Richie Jen’s directorial debut in “All you Need is Love”, a lighthearted romantic comedy starring Jen and renowned actress Shu Qi, with a Gala Premiere on 8 September 2015 at The Grand Cinema at Elements in Hong Kong. Set in the beautiful Penghu Islands, the movie held a special place for Star Cruises with SuperStar Libra visiting these enchanting islands every week from her homeport in Xiamen beginning this summer.

Having long understood the liberating and aesthetic impact of inspirational artwork, Genting Hong Kong takes an active role in art sponsorship throughout the region.
A variety of valuable artwork has been collected throughout the company's history and, subsequently, put on display in our properties. The Impressionist painting of supermodel Kate Moss by Lucian Freud and the Surrealist masterpiece "L'étoile" by Joan Miró, one of the greatest artists of the 20th century, were showcased on SuperStar Virgo. Other artwork included sculptures by world famous artists Dale Chihuly and Fernando Botero - all on exhibit at Resorts World Manila.

“Genting Hong Kong Presents - Yu Wen Tseng Exhibition 2013, Taiwan: Sparkle in Rhyme”, the company’s second major art sponsorship in Taiwan, showcased inspiring and luxurious jewellery created by Tseng, a multi-talented artist acclaimed as a “jewelry poet” for her gift and creativity in jewellery design and poetry. At the exhibition held in March 2013 in Taipei, her jewellery was accentuated by her poetic ingenuity. The exhibition included interactive and educational activities for students and the public to foster a better understanding and appreciation of artistic articulation in jewellery and poetry.

In addition, Genting Hong Kong also supported the promotion of local culture through various initiatives. The company sponsored the Penang Chinese New Year Cultural and Heritage Celebration four years consecutively (2012 - 2015) during which over 100,000 visitors thronged the streets of George Town UNESCO World Heritage Site to share in the festive revelry. The event, initiated by Penang State Government and Penang Chinese Clan Council, and organized by Clan Associations Youth Committee, was an important cultural event in Penang that highlighted Chinese cultural heritage to local as well as international visitors.
